Robert S. Waldbaum, MD

Robert S. Waldbaum, MD, was the historian at the William P. Didusch Center for Urologic History from 2002 until 2006. He was chief of the division of urology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, and a trustee of North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System. He was president of a nine-member urology group practice called Urology Associates, P.C. in Manhasset, New York, a clinical professor of urology at Cornell University Medical College and resident coordinator of New York Hospital/North Shore University Hospital/Cornell Residency Rotation. Dr. Waldbaum was a fellow of the International College of Urology and the Society for Pediatric Urology. He served as vice president of the Kidney Urology Foundation of America and Chairman of the Urology Advisory Board, past-president of the medical staff at both North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and St. Francis Hospital, past-president of the Urology Section of New York Academy and past-president of Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island Urological Association.

Dr. Waldbaum served as battalion surgeon in the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan and Quantico, Virginia. He received the National Kidney Foundation's John K. Lattimer Award for excellence in research, teaching and patient care, as well as for outstanding leadership in urology. He was also awarded the Russell W. Lavengood Distinguished Service Award from the AUA's New York Section.
