Alan W. Partin MD, PhD
1961 -

Alan Partin received his bachelors degree in chemistry in 1983 from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, and his medical degree in 1989 from The Johns Hopkins University. He continued at Hopkins to receive his PhD in pharmacology and molecular sciences in 1988.

Dr. Partin, professor of urology at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, has both basic science and clinical interest in prognosis prediction for men with prostate cancer. Dr. Partin's laboratories and clinical and surgical interest are focused on development and testing of new and existing methods for predicting the aggressiveness of prostate cancers so that rational treatment decisions can be made by both patients and physicians. In addition to the development of the Partin Tables, his laboratories have investigated many new serum tests and proteins, some of which are soon to become available for the diagnosis, detection and staging of prostate cancer.
