James Gordon Bucy, MD (1937-2025)

James Gordon Bucy, born on January 12, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, at the age of 88. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, James was known for his quiet wisdom and unwavering love for his family.

James found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid reader, he was rarely seen without a book in hand, constantly seeking knowledge and enjoyment through the written word. His love for the open water drew him to sailing, where he cherished the tranquility and freedom that came with it.

His professional accomplishments included becoming a Major in the USAF as part of a 6 physician medical corps for the Apollo 11 moon landing, Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery at Washington University and private practice. Dr. Bucy’s service at NASA was written up in the November 1970 Barnes Hospital Bulletin; read the article here.

James will be missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
