AUA Summit - Postscript: Richard Hannigan (1933-2023)

Richard Hannigan (1933-2023)

The AUA learned that Richard James Hannigan, who served as Executive Secretary of the American Urological Association for 32 years (!) passed away last year on July 17, 2023. Born April 11, 1933, Dick Hannigan (as he was known at this organization) was predeceased by parents Thomas and Mary Hannigan, his brother, Thomas and also by his wife, Rosa.

Richard graduated from York Catholic High School, Penn State University, BA, University of Alabama, MA and the University of Baltimore, LLB. He enjoyed a successful career with the American Urological Association in Baltimore, and the many friends he developed there, eventually retiring from the organization in 1996.

Throughout his adult life, Richard was a voracious learner. He enjoyed the arts. He was a student of languages becoming proficient in French, Spanish, and Italian.
