AUA Summit - A Letter of Gratitude

A Letter of Gratitude

Dr. Alejandro Vargas, who lives with his wife in Chiapas, Mexico, bought plane tickets to attend his very first AUA meeting: AUA21. Of course, COVID-19 canceled that meeting. Dr. Vargas and his wife used the airline credit to come to Washington, D.C. this March to see the sights; one of those sites was the William P. Didusch Center for Urologic History. They took the train from D.C. and a taxi from the train station to meet me at AUA Headquarters at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning!

We all had a wonderful time.

Be like Dr. Vargas! Visit the Museum when you get the chance!
Tupper Stevens, Archivist

Dear Mrs. Stevens,

My wife and I hope this letter finds you in good health as well as your colleagues and your beloved family.

The purpose of this communication is to express our most sincere gratitude for taking time out of your weekend in order to show us the beautiful and extraordinary Museum of Urology.

The tour you kindly gave us, and the greatness of the museum left us with a profound lifelong lasting impression. We understand that the beautifulness of the museum is the result of the great dedication, effort, and work of your predecessors and, of course, of yours, who with kindness and hard work, have perpetuated and kept alive this magnificent and extraordinary museum.  We understand there’s no better way to honor those who made today’s modern Urology than keeping their memories, work, sacrifices, stories, and inventions alive in the museum.

My wife and I will absolutely appreciate this unforgettable experience. Thank you for this opportunity, a great gift for us. You have now two sincere friends in Mexico, our humble house is your house and you are welcome whenever you wish to come.

Sincerely yours,
Alejandro Vargas
