The William P. Didusch Art and History Award
Michael E. Moran, MD, is the recipient of the 2020 William P. Didusch Art and History Award for his extensive contributions to the history of urology and his devotion to the American Urological Association William P. Didusch Center for Urologic History. A member of the AUA History Committee for more than 25 years, Dr Moran served from 2011 through 2019 as the 5th Curator of the Didusch Center. He recently completed a year as Curator Emeritus. Among his 100 journal publications and almost 200 book chapters are a large number pertaining to urological history.
An active member of the American Osler Society, where he was recently a member of the Board of Directors, he has given innumerable invited lectures, a significant number pertaining to the history of urology. His book on the history of urolithiasis ( Urolithiasis: A Comprehensive History, 2013) is the most complete history book on this urological topic. He recently co-edited another outstanding book, The History of Technologic Advancements in Urology. He is extremely highly regarded worldwide by urologic historians, especially among our European colleagues. Dr. Michael E. Moran, Professor of Urology and the History of Medicine at the University of South Carolina is a most academic, brilliant, knowledgeable, and productive person regarding the history of urology and is richly deserving of the 2020 William P. Didusch Art and History Award.
