The AUA learned of the death of Dr. Carl Olsson, who served on the AUA Board of Directors and many Committees for over 25 years. Dr. Olsson was AUA Secretary from 2002-2006, a time of great change and growth for the AUA, as the organization built and relocated to a new Headquarters, consolidated the Office of Education, and created the AUA Foundation (now Urology Care Foundation). Dr. Olsson became a member of the AUA in 1971 and was recommended for membership by no fewer than four AUA Presidents (Drs. Richard Chute, Wyland Leadbetter, Walter Kerr, and Joseph Dowd). Dr. Chute wrote of Dr. Olsson: He is a capable and courageous and resourceful surgeon. He is very bright and is extremely well-read, and I am sure he is destined to “make his mark” in urology. He has a fine character and is an excellent fellow in every way…
Many AUA members and staff have stories to tell about Dr. Olsson; if you send yours to archives@auanet.org, they will be archived for research by future urologic historians.
